Camp Days!

Hello Buddy Program,

As most of you know the Buddy Program went to Camp this past Monday and Tuesday. Participants were bussed courtesy of Nortrhern Spirit Transportation from IMSS out to Camp elkness located on the shore of Ness Lake about 40 minutes out of town. The trip began at 11am from IMSS and we arrived at the camp at approximately noon. After arrival all the campers got settled in to their bunk houses and headed for the water. At the lake some campers went for a dip while others tried various fishing tactics along side the dock. After some time getting to know the camp and hanging out by the lake all of the campers had a grilled cheese lunch. After lunch some campers returned to the lake and others enjoyed some volleyball or soccer. As the afternoon rolled along everyone participated in a solid game of capture the flag. The teams were quite evenly matched and it resulted in a draw as dinner time fast approached. At about 6pm the rain began, while only light to start, it would continue uninterrupted for the next 24hrs! Dinner was a feast of pasta, vetgetables, potato salad and fruit. There was even ice cream for desert which was popular with everyone! (seconds was had by all) After dinner most people hung out indoors and played board but some braved the rain and enjoyed the outside. As the night wore on, the rain lety up just enough to have a camp fire and roast marshmallows.
I have never seen marshmallows roasted and consumed so fast! More rain came on Tuesday, lots more! It really poured sevral times and was drizzling for most of the day. After breakfast the group braved the weather and went for a short hike along the camp road. This hike was followed by hot soup for lunch which was well received by the water logged campers. The soup seemed to lift everyones spirits and a number of the campers returned outside to the wet weather for some sports while others stayed inside and read, played board games and made noise (music?) on the piano. Fortunately as the day wore on the weather let up a little bit. This allowed for another camp fire. This fire was fantastic, kept campers warm and provided excellent embers to rost hot dogs! A great time was had by all and many campers were seen snoring on the bus ride home. Thank you very much to Camp Elkness for having us!
